Essere Torino is a book that arises from the gaze and voice of Toni Spagone, author of the texts and photographs. Each chapter opens with the formula “Torino is…”, becoming a fragment of experience, a personal way of living and telling the city.

For this audiobook, Fabrizio Odetto draws inspiration from the translation of the original texts of the French philosopher Étienne de La Boétie not yet eighteen years old.

The audiobook does not faithfully correspond to the original translation by Pietro Fanfani from 1864 but rather constitutes a remixed version. The text has been fragmented, deconstructed, and then reassembled in a different chronological sequence, according to the sensitivity and personal perception of Odetto, a contemporary man.

The essence of this mosaic gives the original composition a dynamic reflection of modernity, which renews and multiplies in the present time that ancient revolutionary yearning.
